SCOTLAND LIVE: Guy fights back after spin
GUY dropped out of contention for victory on RACMSA Rally of Scotland today after a high-speed spin on the live TV stage.
Guy and co-driver Phil Pugh began stage five, the 17.7km Errochty test, just 3.4 seconds off the lead in their Peugeot UK 207 S2000.
But a spin on a fast left-hander cost them more than six minutes and dropped them down to 23rd place.
Guy said: "I hold my hands up. It was my fault. I thought we had a puncture about 500 metres from the start.
"For some strange reason the car was behaving a little peculiar so I had it in my head that it was a puncture but I knew that I wasn’t going to stop to change it and instead was planning to drag the car through.
"But it wasn’t getting any better and I pushed too hard and took one risk too many.
“The car went broadside down the road in a fast left. The front caught a ditch and it span almost 360 degrees and got beached on the sill with the front wheels on the road and the back wheels in a ditch. It took a lot of time to get out.
“I had to get the jack out and put a wheel under the rear wheel to try and lift the back of the car to get the weight on the tyres because all the weight was on the sill.
"It just took too long and then I had to wait for about a minute to let my team-mate Thierry [Neuville] past.
"I'm massively disappointed as we can't now get the result we wanted. But we'll be out there on Sunday to put on a show for the fans."
Guy and Phil bounced back by going fourth quickest on stage six and ended day two in 15th place.
Sunday's final leg is made up of six stages in the forests of Stirlingshire totalling more than 50 miles.
